Bermudagrass Encroachment

The collar around the 14th green was recently sprayed with a chemical that will hopefully kill the encroaching Bermudagrass and leave the other grasses alone. The collar on the right side of 14 green, as well as two areas around the 8th green were treated as a test to see how well the chemical worked. So far so good. The Bermudagrass can be seen turning brown in the picture below. The other grasses (mainly annual bluegrass) turned yellow but should come back.

Anthracnose

The greens have been battling a fungus, Anthracnose, for several weeks. We applied four fungicides to the greens and  feel we have finally stopped it. The greens seem to be healing quickly and should be good as new very soon.

Grub Some Pine Meat!

This is what happens when animals such as racoons dig up the turfgrass as they look for grubs to eat. Although we apply an insecticide to the entire course in June, we occasionally have areas like this where we still get some grub activity. As the weather cools down the grub activity will stop. We will be repairing these areas in the next couple of weeks.
